About This Site

I started this site because I saw a gap in how political issues are covered by most media; the articles are simplified for a wide audience, and miss where things get interesting; the complexity that’s found in grey areas. I’m a computer guy who works in data analytics by day, and reads about politics at night—I guess that makes me a nerd. But I think it’s a shame that, with all the data available to us at our fingertips, most news stories speak in cliches and barely scratch the surface.

This is an emotional, tough time in our country, whether you are liberal or conservative, and the more polarized we get, the more emotions and not facts guide our political conversations. I want to be able to have a conversation with my friends on both sides of the spectrum, and talk about the facts behind the issues, and what they reveal.

There’s a lot more to the headlines, and I want to show the complexity found in researching where politics, economics and history intersect. With a ton of research from primary sources, like the always-exciting IRS and Department of Treasury websites.

Articles on this site are meant to challenge the perceptions of people on both sides of the political spectrum, and offer a more nuanced perspective. You don’t need to have an advanced degree in politics or statistics to understand everything, just an interest. And a love of cool graphs.

This is a hobby; what I do for fun (I told you I’m a nerd). If you have suggestions for articles, please fill out the contact form on this page. I look forward to hearing from you.
